ECM Energy Services is seeking a full-time, experienced heavy duty/diesel mechanic to join our team on night shift. The ideal candidate will be able to fulfill all the below responsibilities and meet all listed requirements.

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:

  • Determines vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests to identify worn and/or damaged parts.
  • Keeps vehicles available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules such as bulbs, oil and tires, installing components and parts as needed, controlling corrosion and completing winterizing procedures.
  • Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems. • Complies with federal and state vehicle requirements by testing engine, safety and combustion control standards. 
  • Maintains vehicle appearance through regular cleaning, washing and painting.
  • Maintains all equipment records by recording service and maintenance.
  • Keeps shop equipment operational by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance and calling for repairs as necessary.
  • Contains costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Ensures the readiness and availability of supplies through regular inventories and proper purchasing.
  • Updates job knowledge through regular participation in educational offerings and reading technical publications.
  • Maintains a dependable work attendance record with extremely infrequent absences and/or lateness.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Diesel Mechanic Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years heavy duty diesel mechanic experience is required OR 1 year experience AND successful completion of an accredited diesel mechanic program
  • Class A CDL license is strongly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge in materials, tools and techniques used in the diagnosis, repair and maintenance of heavy duty trucks and mechanical equipment is required
  • MUST be computer literate and able to perform basic functions
  • Experience maintaining detailed records
  • Possess standard knowledge of safety policies and procedures
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication
  • Be able to work a varied schedule when needed
  • Have knowledge of FMCSA regulations and CVSA out of service criteria
